Created between 2018 and 2025 from native clay sourced directly from Ousteri Lake—minutes from her studio—these pieces represent the last use of this now-unavailable material. Working in this direct, place-bound way revives an ancient practice in which the local earth becomes inseparable from the final form, lending the works a rare immediacy and authenticity.  

Continuing the reflection on Puducherry’s endless ocean begun in Ocean I, Ocean II is a dynamic sculpture that draws from the same boundless view along the Promenade Beach, where the Bay of Bengal stretches to the horizon. Its flowing shapes and textured surfaces evoke the raw strength of breaking waves and the steady rhythm of the tides. The piece conveys the sea’s timeless power and calm beauty, stirring a sense of wonder and longing in anyone who stands before it.
