Indrani Singh Cassime, Native Series, The Void

PRICE UPON REQUEST

The Native Series holds a distinctive place in Indrani Singh Cassime’s body of work, reflecting her long-standing interest in diverse viewpoints, cultural intersections, and multiplicity of perspective.

Created between 2018 and 2025 from native clay sourced directly from Ousteri Lake—minutes from her studio—these pieces represent the last use of this now-unavailable material. Working in this direct, place-bound way revives an ancient practice in which the local earth becomes inseparable from the final form, lending the works a rare immediacy and authenticity.

The Void is an impressive outdoor installation: two sculptural forms that serve as paired vessels. Each contains an inner vase from which fresh flowers emerge, bringing softness to the structured clay. The open construction invites viewers to look through the piece, noticing what is inside and outside, around, and behind, thereby creating layered perspectives and a dialogue between presence and absence, permanence and ephemerality.
